The main difference lies in the quality of the diodes, optics (reflector/lens) and cooling. A premium ramp from a brand like Luxtar will provide a cleaner light, a more optimised light pattern without "dead spots", and it will maintain its performance over time thanks to superior heat dissipation. A cheaper ramp often loses in brightness and can have moisture problems.

Yes! There are now high-quality LED lamps designed to replace original D-socket lamps (e.g. D1S, D2S). The advantages are an instant switch-on time (no "warm-up"), longer lifetime and often an even crisper light.

For a wide light that illuminates roadsides and ditches, we recommend a light pattern called "combo" or "driving beam" on an LED ramp. It combines a long range in the centre with a wide spread of light to the sides, which is perfect for detecting wildlife in time.
