Auxiliary lights in 9-inch size (225 mm) are the classic choice for those who want proper brightness and range. The larger reflector provides significantly better light output compared to 7-inch, and the size fits most passenger cars, SUVs and pickups. Here you will find 9-inch LED auxiliary lights from Luxtar, NBB and more.
9-inch (225 mm) has long been the standard size for round auxiliary lights on Swedish cars. There is a good reason for this. The reflector is large enough to provide really good range – the strongest models reach 800+ meters – while still fitting three lights on most passenger car fronts. It is a size that fits just as well on a Volvo V60 as it does on a Ford Ranger.
Compared to 7-inch auxiliary light You get a significantly longer range thanks to the larger reflector. The difference is most obvious with the spot light pattern where the extra surface allows the light to be focused more tightly and thrown further. In the driving light pattern (combo), the difference is smaller but still noticeable in width.
Most 9-inch auxiliary lights are available with either Spot or Driving beam patterns. Spot provides a narrow, concentrated beam with maximum range straight ahead. Driving provides a wider beam that illuminates roadsides and ditches. The most common setup among our customers is three lights: a spot light in the center and two driving lights on the sides. This provides both range and width.
Do you mostly drive on the highway and straights? Go for three spot. Do you drive curvy country roads? Three driving. Most people benefit most from combining.
The reference number indicates the brightness of the auxiliary light and determines how many lights you are allowed to install. The total reference number for all your auxiliary lights plus the main beam must not exceed 100. Most 9-inch auxiliary lights have reference numbers between 17.5 and 37.5 per light. Always check the total reference number before deciding on the number of lights.
9-inch auxiliary lights are mounted with auxiliary light brackets – either behind the license plate or on a separate light arch. You need a relay cable set for connection. On cars with CANbus we recommend a XBB Dongle. Complete extra light package with everything you need is also there.
