Questions and answers
The difference lies in four things: the quality of the diodes (premium brands use, for example, Osram or Cree), the optics (an advanced lens/reflector directs the light efficiently), the cooling (better cooling provides longer life and maintained performance) and the warranty. A more expensive ramp in practice provides a better, cleaner light and is a more sustainable investment.
This is the most common installation question we get. To avoid disturbing the car's sensitive electrical system, the absolute best and safest method is to use a CANbus interface like the XBB Dongle. It reads the high beam signal wirelessly from the car's diagnostic socket and sends it to the relay, without affecting the car's original wiring.
Not necessarily better, but different. A curved ramp gives a slightly wider spread of light to the sides, which many people appreciate. Above all, it is a design issue – many people find that a curved ramp follows the lines of a modern car in a more attractive way. Functionally, the difference between a straight and a high-quality curved ramp is usually marginal.
A position light in an LED ramp is not approved to be used instead of the car's regular position light. It should be seen as a styling feature that can be used when the car is parked or when driving off-road.
