reversing light

Good reversing lights make a huge difference when you're reversing in the dark. The standard lights on most cars provide a dim, yellowish light that barely illuminates more than a meter behind the car. An LED reversing light replaces that with powerful, white light that illuminates the entire area behind the vehicle. Here you'll find reversing lights in a variety of sizes and shapes – from round and oval to slim models which is mounted discreetly under the bumper.

LED reversing lights – see where you are reversing

Most cars come with dim, yellowish reversing lights that don't provide adequate visibility in the dark. It's a genuine safety concern – you're essentially reversing blindly in dark parking lots, yards and forest roads. An LED reversing light provides a powerful, daylight white light that illuminates the entire area behind the car, allowing you to see obstacles, children, animals and edges clearly.

The difference to standard reversing lights is dramatic. Where the original lighting illuminates perhaps a meter behind the car, a good LED reversing light illuminates 10-15 meters with even, wide light. It's not about looking good - it's about seeing where you're reversing.

Choosing the right reversing light

Reversing lights come in three main shapes: round, oval and slim. Round and oval reversing lights have a larger light area and generally provide more light. Slim reversing lights have a low, wide profile that fits under the bumper without protruding. They provide less light output per unit but are often mounted in pairs to compensate.

Power and lumens vary greatly. A simple LED reverse light bulb might put out 500 lumens. A dedicated LED reverse light can put out 2,000-5,000 lumens or more. Choose based on how dark the conditions are when you're reversing and how much space you have for mounting.

Assembly

Reverse lights are wired to the car's reverse signal so that they come on automatically when you put the car in reverse. Installation requires you to locate the reverse cable and connect it via a power strip or relay. Most reverse lights mount under the bumper with the included brackets.
