A xenon conversion means that you replace your car's halogen bulbs with xenon bulbs (HID) using a conversion kit. The kit contains xenon bulbs with the socket your car uses, a ballast which converts 12V to the high voltage required by the xenon lamp and the necessary wiring harnesses. The result is a dramatic increase in brightness and a whiter light image.
Xenon vs LED conversion
Today, there are two ways to upgrade from halogen: xenon conversion and LED conversion. LED is the newer technology with longer life and easier installation (no ballast needed). However, Xenon still provides a uniquely bright light that many prefer, especially in headlights with projector systems (lenses) where the light image is sharper.
Installation
Installation requires mounting the ballast in the engine compartment and wiring to the headlight. The ballast requires a dry, vibration-free mounting location. Allow 1-2 hours for complete installation. CANbus vehicles may require an additional CANbus adapter to eliminate error codes.
